The College of The Albemarle (COA) Foundation’s Gift Aid Program (GAP) Scholarship was created as a result of the COA Foundation’s Board of Directors recognition that while some students don’t qualify for State or Federal Financial Aid, they’d still benefit from financial assistance to help pay for some of the cost of attending college. This scholarship is meant to help “bridge the gap” where state and federal assistance ends and college affordability begins.
“Although I was not eligible for financial aid, the GAP Scholarship provided me with an abundance of financial support. With the GAP Scholarship, I was able to sign up and attend the classes I needed for my degree!”
– Megan Bundy
The GAP Scholarship award will vary in amount depending on your enrollment status and the availability of funds. Unfortunately, we don’t have sufficient funds to help every student who qualifies for need-based assistance. We give priority to applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This scholarship is awarded to students who meet specific criteria for financial need based on their Expected Family Contribution (EFC) generated from their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To qualify you must
- Have a complete Federal Student Aid file
- Have an EFC between 7501 and 13000
- Maintain a 2.0 or better COA grade-point average
